Randy Gage, Top MLM Consultant: 7 Things You Should Tell a New Recruit

Randy Gage, a top MLM consultant, has some great trainings and books available. I am going through one of these, How to Make at least $100,000 in Network Marketing, and found these gems.

Mr. Gage says you need to tell your new recruits to:

1. Bring people to opportunity meetings. If you don’t bring people – or involve them through somehow in the enthusiasm of your business – you don’t grow. The energy at the meeting adds to your efforts.

Now this may not be comfortable for some of you. If you don't attend the meetings, you still need to teach your people how to find leads and how to work the business. You then become their source of enthusiasm.

2. Learn to Make Presentations. You need to make presentations, even if on the phone. One great line: 100 imperfect presentations are better than no presentations at all.

3. Use the product. Below, I have much more on this.

4. Come to the meetings - like trainings, in addition to bringing people to #1, opportunity meetings. I would add that you need to keep some balance in your family. Don’t get so caught up going to meetings that you forget your prospecting work. You need to reserve some time to contact all those MLM leads you have and will generate.

5. Follow a recruiting system. He has an elaborate system he explains – I won’t add it here, but perhaps another time. His point is simply that you need a recruiting system, and it should be duplicatable.

That word, duplicatable, comes up frequently with this top MLM consultant. Randy believes in it.

6. Be enthusiastic. Randy is big on this. He says confidence brings enthusiasm, and enthusiasm builds organizations.

I would caution that the enthusiasm can spill over into another word, one that isn’t as welcome: hype.

I love enthusiasm, but we have to be careful of just signing people up through hype.

On the plus side, this top MLM consultant did explain that you can't build on enthusiasm alone. Your people must be bonded to the product, which I agree with completely.

Here is his explanation of how enthusiasm or hype alone won't build an organization.

First, he explains that he used to buy a $100 gift certificate for product form his company. He would give a presentation at a big MLM meeting, with hundreds of people in attendance. During his speech, he would burn the $100 gift certificate, for effect, to hype things up.

Then, he would say, what do I care if I lose this hundred dollars of product? My check last month was $6,000. Now, it's $5900. You can take the product and pour it in the river if you are making $6,000 a month was his point.

And people would sign up as fast as could be - because that is a hype tactic. It works. It worked like a charm, but he found that it didn't last without people using and being bonded to the product.

This has another explanation. What happens if your new recruit doesn't have any volume? He doesn't order. What if his recruit doesn't have any volume of product under her? She doesn't order either.

And so it goes up the line. Whole organizations can fall apart because no one has a bond with the product.

That’s the last item in this list.

7. Bond with the Product

To make your organization work, you need to be bonded with the product you offer. You and your team have to use the product.
