The First Step to Online MLM Success

To succeed in online MLM, you will need to cover several bases. All are important, of course, but some are more important than others. Recently, I outlined the main points of running an online MLM. Let's go deeper into the first point:

Presence. It's just about the most important base to cover.

With an online presence, a page where people can find you and learn about you, you have entered the game. Without it, you don’t have a way for people to contact you online or see any of your information.

The more web savvy you become, the more ways you find you can build your online MLM presence. I’ll detail several here for you to look over and to get your ideas moving. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide how to get your name in front of people.

1. Social Networking

Your page on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn all count. You set up a page and you use it to communicate with people. They can search for you on Google/Yahoo/Bing, and leave you a note, become a friend and so on.

These work well for many things, and will get you started. You can fill out a form to have a page at one of the above or dozens more in about 10 minutes.

Many people, myself included, have several profiles at several social networking sites. You can, too.

These sites make signing up easy, and give you a quick way to start interacting for your online MLM. You can write a blog here, add pictures, make a links list, start groups (a great strategy) and much more.

2. Video Sites

I have this separate because of the type of media, video, but some social sites will do this as well, like MySpace.

You have probably heard of YouTube. You can set up your own YouTube channel to show off your videos. Videos offer great opportunities for people to see you and really take in your message.

3. Content Sharing – Squidoo, Hubpages, and more

These sites offer you a starter website that can earn money, but all one page.

You have the flexibility to create hundreds of these if you want, and many have done that. You build the page using a simple form, and you can use your own affiliate links and sell stuff from that page.

These are very easy, and search engines find them very well. You could use one of these pages as a way to capture names and emails with some code from your autoresponder, for example. Or, you could put in a link to your Twitter account and have people become your followers there, and then you can tweet (talk) to them anytime you want. Nice way to start a list.

4. Free Blogs – Blogger, Wordpress (the site), LiveJournal

You can get one of these many places. The advantage of one of these blogs is that you can have many entries, and the search engines will find each one.

You can add photos, links, ads, and more. Embed video. Great tools, and many people never move beyond this tool for getting your online MLM growing.

Take a look at some of these, and see if you like the format. You can build a blog quickly, that’s no trouble. If there is a weakness, it is that you need to keep adding information.

Blog means web log, like a diary online. As you add material, your blog becomes seasoned and will rise in the search engines.

5. Your Own Website

So far, all of the ideas above have been what you call subdomains. That means your site is part of a larger site. With your own website, you have a top level domain, not site with a name like www.squidoo.yourname.com, or www.blogspot.whatever.com.

Instead, it’s just www.Yourname.com. This is better because you then can switch hosts if you need to. You can add programming like a forum if you want, or a make it a membership site.

Where to Start

The others above work are all very cool, very helpful. You should definitely start with those first. I did. Then, when you know you have more to say and do, get a full site and top level domain name for yourself for ultimate flexibility and capability.

Your presence online starts your business. Without it, you don’t have much of a chance of making you MLM online successful, but you can start it for free and run it free for a while you learn.
