Here's a quick thought: have you ever heard of Seth Godin? I quoted him just this evening talking marketing with my business partner...okay, my wife - one and the same. I was explaining what the term meatball sundae means. Who coined that term? Seth Godin. He has got to be one of the greatest marketers of all time, and I aspire to someday succeed as he has succeeded, while keeping my hair. Seriously, check out some of his books - he's written about 10, and I own several. I am reading Free Prize Inside, and it's fantastic. Meatball Sundae is another, as is Purple Cow. Take a minute to get familiar with some of these, and pick out one to start reading. Seth focuses in on how to succeed in business. And by the way, he co-founded Squidoo, so he's not all talk and no action. Learn from the best, and become the best.

I hope your home-based business is off to a great start in 2010. I for one have decided to make some changes to get things rolling a little faster this year. Have you made some changes? Set some goals? Perhaps you have re-focused on the highest priority items in your business? I find myself doing just that - remembering what I need to focus on first. In most businesses, home-based or not, I think that means leads, names, your personal contacts and possible future clients, right? What's second? I recently saw that Lee McIntyre said deepening your sales funnel was a high priority. Jimmy Brown said that Traffic is critical - which is a very similar item to the personal contacts I mentioned above, though not quite the same. Look at what makes your business grow, what makes your home-based business successful. Focus in on the top 3-5 things, and get going. PPC Ideas from Webinar

How did you like the PPC webinar Jonathan Budd and his friend put together? I have been traveling - so I missed it! Of all the lousy luck, right? I do plan to use PPC in the future, but right now I have been focusing on other ways to build traffic, like blogging, using social media, and list building. If you like PPC, I hope the webinar filled in some gaps for you. I ended up leaving a day earlier than I expected, and my Tuesday was slammed. But now, I'm in Key West, FL. Not bad :0) I like it here... Anyways, about traffic. I own a copy of Perry Marshall's Definitive Guide To Adwords, which is a good read on PPC, and Jonathan's webinar looked like it might plug a few leaks in the whole PPC game. If you use PPC, be very careful with your cash and your daily budget. Marketing is too important to run out of cash, and you need to make money on those funded proposals! Okay, I will eventually put this into a full page, but I wanted to get this information to you. You know you can get MLM training at a substantial discount. If not, read a few days back on my blog and you'll get the scoop. I added a part three because so many don't understand the power of this strategy for YOUR benefit. I'll explain. When you get a great deal at eBay or wherever, you get the training and your MLM business prospers, right? Hopefully you learn some great information and you use it. But what then? Then, you sell it on eBay or wherever and buy another one! The power of this is hard to underestimate for tangible systems you can buy and sell. You can put in a few dollars, say $50 or $100, but a cool system, absorb it, take notes, and sell it. You now have much or all of your initial investment back, and you can repeat the same deal with another cool training. It's a great way to learn new information, and only spend a little to keep it going. Give it a try - learning something new in MLM training should only help your business. Good luck!

My recent post on MLM Training discounts left something out. I left it out because I thought most of you would figure it our for yourselves. Now, after a day or two, I decided to spell it out for those who are newer to using the internet to find stuff. I'll be quick. My last post says you can get great discounts on MLM Training packages at eBay.com, which many people know already. eBay offers great flexibility in what you list, so it is the biggest place to buy and sell these types of packages. But I left out all the other places you can go for similar stuff and discounts. I'll fix that now. Here's a list of great places to look for MLM training packages and other things as well: Craigslist.com - the other massive clean-out-your-garage site. You may find stuff you want locally, too. Amazon.com - excellent for books, CD's, DVD's. BN.com - this is Barnes and Noble's site, and it also has a sell your stuff option like Amazon. Alibris.com - Made up of used bookstores and similar places. Last, our local TV/radio stations have free classifieds. They are great. Check yours. That's it. These are my favorite sites for monster discounts on MLM training packages, and other stuff as well. Next: The third piece of the puzzle on this topic.

In case you wanted one of the big MLM training products, I have a tip for you. I'm thinking of products like Traffic Formula, Black Belt Recruiting, and the like. So you've seen the sales pages, you want to get one. And here's the tip - it's not so new, but it works really well: Look for your favorite MLM training product on eBay. I like to set up an email alert. You log in, go to my eBay, do a search, then click the save search button. A few days ago, I saw a huge discount on some great packages. And when I'm ready to get rid of my older MLM training packages, I'll put them on there as well. Go take a look.

Building a list of leads or a flood of traffic doesn't usually happen as a flood, but a trickle that gains momentum. And even when you have a huge list, you still generate leads one name at a time. I've been thinking about network marketing strategies, so I thought I'd share a tip you can use. When you offer your product or your opportunity, you can add something called stratification. Briefly, stratification means that you start to divide the market. It works the same as retail stores. Walmart and dollar stores live on the lower end of pricing. Saks and Tiffanies at the top. Or, you can also look at it a different way, like Coke. Coke has, what, 6 different Cokes now? This divides the people buying into different groups that Coke can sell to in ways that appeal to that group. You can do this by offering your opportunity to a specific group. For example, some chiropractors will sell certain products because the products integrate well with being in their field. Like Ann Sieg says, teaching sells. As you teach people about your field, not your opportunity, you give them a chance to identify themselves as part of your target group. Using solid network marketing strategies can bring you many leads this way. More later.
