MLM Funded Proposals: 5 Keys to a good funded proposal

MLM funded proposals have become all the rage of late. Do you know how they work and what they cost? Have you tried one and failed? Take a look below see where you might find the problem.

What are MLM Funded Proposals?

First things first. A funded proposal is a phrase intended to mean that the idea pays for itself, also called self-liquidating marketing. Like going on a business trip to Disneyland – you get the trip for free.

But this is marketing, so you want to get mlm leads for free or for a profit, to keep your network marketing business growing. This idea is as old as business, combining your marketing with a retail product, which enables you to keep marketing…

In other words, you sell a product – the funded proposal is a product you sell – then, when you sell it, you gather the lead information from your customer, and you take in the money from the sale.

Now you have more money, and you can advertise and pay for other business expenses, allowing you to sell more funded proposals or products, providing you with leads, that allow you to advertise more and sell more.

That’s a funded proposal.

Ancient Magic

You might read the above and think, Sounds like I’m running a book store.

Buy Books -> Sell Books -> Advertise -> Buy more Books or something like that.

But that ignores the potential back end. You see, mlm gurus of yesteryear perfected this method in the 80’s and 90’s. They offered trainings, non-specific books on achievement, self improvement, and the industry in general.

When you read their books and so on, you find that they also mention their network marketing businesses, or their consulting businesses that can help your run your mlm operation better. Funded proposals.

In fact, this idea carries over into several other industries, such as real estate training, stock investment training and more. Gurus have been doing this for a long time, and it works.

Let’s look at what you need to for a good mlm funded proposal.

5 Keys

1. Value

The funded proposal must offer value. It could be a Frisbee, but it better be a good one. Typically, you’ll find information products because they educate, they are inexpensive to produce, and they have high perceived value.

2. Reasonable cost

The cost should be in line with what you want to do, but should be reasonable. You don’t need to become rich on the funded proposal, you want to sell it so you can generate essentially free mlm leads and build your organization.

I advise against a free product, except as an interest generator. You want to generate income with your proposal so that you can do two things. First, so you can continue to advertise and cover your business expenses. Second, you want quality leads, meaning people who are willing to spend money on their business.

3. Simplified Delivery

A good mlm funded proposal should be easy to deliver. You don’t want to have to meet with a person two states away to give them a $10 CD or DVD. You want something streamlined. The point here is to let your marketing handle the lead generation process, not to start a mail order business that requires you to lick stamps and stand in line at the post office.

4. Lead Capture

Did you forget? The point of the funded proposal is to capture the lead. If you don’t have system for that, you don’t have a funded proposal, you have a one-off sale. Oops.

You will need an autoresponder, serious email organization, and plenty of time on the phone to go with lead capture, of course.

5. Must Convert

Not only must your funded proposal offer good information, but it must sell. If you can’t get people to buy it, then you don’t have a business, right? No sales, no money, no leads. They all go together.

How do you know if it converts? First of all, did you buy it? Did other people buy it? Fads exist because people buy in large numbers. You might want to get on the bandwagon with this one. If everyone is talking about the same MLM funded proposal, you can probably benefit from it, too.

After you have a marketing plan up and running, you can also see how well it converts for you.

Other Considerations

I haven’t mentioned your mlm opportunity for a reason: It has no place in your funded proposal. I read a book years ago by Jeffrey Lant called Multi Level Money. Good book, lousy funded proposal. All the way through he’s talking about his two mlm opportunities. I liked the marketing education he provided, but he was too focused on selling his opportunity.

Now, 10 years later, are those companies around? Is he still in them? I don’t know, but this I can tell you for sure: he can’t go into another opportunity and sell that book to promote it and get leads, because he plastered the other companies all over the book. It’s obsolete as a funded proposal.

So those are the basics. Take some time, look at the ones available. Mike Dillard has a few available in Magnetic Sponsoring, Black Belt Recruiting, and his newest is likely to be pretty good as well – Building on a Budget.

Take a look at my review of Magnetic Sponsoring to get my opinion of it.

Ann Sieg’s is good, too, the Renegade Network Marketer. I have also bought the Attraction Marketing Blueprint, but I didn’t like it. It’s a good starting place, but not totally cohesive. I plan to soon pick up a copy of Surefire Sponsoring by Marc Weiser. I’ll let you know how it is.

Good luck, good mlm funded proposals, and good leads.
