How to Generate Website Traffic: 5 More Free Traffic Builders, Plus one Secret

You need to generate website traffic if you have a blog or a site. I recently posted 10 free ways for building internet traffic , and this continues the concept.

If you need any help with how to do any of these, use my contact me tab on the menu at left and I’ll give you some help.

Let’s get into these 5 ways, and one at the end that so few people take advantage of it might as well be a complete secret.

For a free ebook with tons of ways to improve your traffic, just sign up below for my occasional ezine, and I'll give it to you as a free gift. All I need is an email address...

I promise to use it only to send you MarketingCusp.

1. RSS Feeds

You may not know this, but if you have a blog, you also have an RSS feed.

And if you have a site blog, you can use RSS as well.

RSS stands for really simple syndication. If you visit Google.com, you will find, under the more button at the top of the page a drop down. Near the bottom of the list is the Reader link.

Likewise, in Yahoo! Mail, you will have RSS feeds in y our menu options.

Both of these allow you to select feeds or enter feeds that you want to read regularly, almost like a favorites list but a little different. When you open your reader, you will usually see a list of the feeds you have chosen. Clock on those, and you’ll see a list of the most recent feed items from that source.

Your site can be one of these feeds, like mine and others. Then, people can sign up to receive your feeds as you publish them. And if they want more, they click through and generate website traffic or blog traffic for you.

This is cool.

Also, you can ping your posts. This means you tell (ping) the major sites that monitor new material that you have something new.

Check out the site Pingoat. Pingoat has good info on how to get started, so check it out, and ping your posts! You can ping anything that has a feed. Then, it will get listed at more places, and generate website traffic for your stuff.

2. Learn some SEO: Search Engine Optimization

I can only scratch the surface on this one. SEO has become a science in its own right, or a brawl, depending on how you look at it.

I’ll boil it down to a few items for your new site:- Name your site so it matches what you talk about. I talk about the network marketing business and internet marketing, so I put marketing in the title.- Title each page so it relates to your subject, if possible. If you write about the health benefits of high colonics, you should put that in your title.- Use natural phrases that relate to your topic in each paragraph. You can do this with one phrase and stay on topic for that page.- Include a link on each page that has the keyword phrase in it.- Use keyword phrases when you name photos.- Likewise for videos.

Like I said, I can’t cover this whole topic, but it does help to generate website traffic. If this is too much, remember the main point: stay on topic. Don’t just repeat the same phrase over and over, don’t sound like an automaton, don’t write just for the robots scanning the page.

Do talk mainly about one topic. Use examples, of course, but relate them back to what your page is about. And links that have your topic (or keywords) in them always help to get those pages listed in the search engines for those words.

Keywords cover a lot of territory. I’ll write a separate page with some resources for you soon. Until then, use the above as a brief guide.

3. Link Exchanges

Most people consider these dead, but they aren’t completely. You can trade links with others, and it helps to get your site found and tied into the network of sites of similar topics and interests.

If you can get links on highly visible sites, it will generate website traffic for you. Don’t expect it to do all the work for you, but it can help.

One little warning: don’t just send a note to every cool site you visit and ask for a link exchange. Blog and site owners get tired of this.

If you have something to add to the site, like if you site will compliment theirs, try it.

4. Groups: Google, Yahoo, MSN Groups, Myspace, Facebook

Many large communities have groups. You can join groups on any subject, and I do mean absolutely any, because if you can’t find a group, you can start one.

Groups can help you start to generate website traffic by sharing a resource the group can use, maybe answering a question or providing a how-to that you post to the group. Then, in your signature, you have your site.

Group members will look at what you have to say, and if it is valuable, they’ll click through to your blog or site. More free targeted web traffic.

Don’t abuse the group, or you’ll get banned. Don’t join millions, or you’ll never contribute. But if you like groups, this can really boost your site.

5. Free Classified ads

Free classifieds can add to your traffic numbers. Basically, you post an advertisement for free. Use keyword phrases so people can find it. Look at some other ads so you can see what attracts your eye and what draws people in.

You can give away a report, have a special page with cool resource links for people to visit when they click through, or even sell something on the page that you link to from the free ad site. All will generate website traffic for you.

USfreeads is just one site, but you can find dozens. If you use the free option, you can only list a few ads or one at a time, but you can find many of this type of site. Free way to bring more traffic.

A Nearly Secret way to generate website traffic free

In my area, we have a very popular TV and radio station. This company has a site on the web, or course, and it is a large site.

The site offers free advertising for anyone selling or offering anything locally. You can put links in your ads, and you can advertise business opportunities, and more.

I have sold several items through this site, and it gets serious local traffic.

And it isn’t the only one!

Most of the local TV stations offer a similar service. Take a look at your local TV station sites, newspapers, and radio stations. Some will have free classifieds, and some will have tons of traffic for the local area. Try out their free services and see if you get more traffic.

Next, I’ll post an article on just one method, but a very powerful one you can use over and over again.
