Advice about Network Marketing: 10 Ways to do Better
You can find advice about network marketing all over, but much of it is not worth your time. I have been studying this business and working on a better way to succeed. These 10 items will allow you to skip ahead to better results right away. All of these items are important. The first 2 pieces of advice about network marketing are definitely the most important to start with, but you can overcome them if you have already made a choice. The List - Basic Advice
1. Choose a Great Company
While this may seem like standard advice about network marketing, I have some solid reasons for including it. In some companies, you’ll find you have to recruit 1000 people and sign them up for auto-ship before you make any money. In others, you may find that the product is $100, but a suitable substitute is only $20 at the local grocery store. But some will make you money right away, and will realize the value of a good organization. Take some time when you look at a company to find the

2. Choose a Great Leader
If you haven’t signed up yet, look for a good leader. If you sign up under someone who has trained others and put together an organization, you stand a better chance of success.If you already signed up, and you missed the leader you wanted, I have two suggestions. First, go upline until you find a leader to work with. Second, use generic training, like on this site, to find the support you need, and become the leader you need. 3. Earn Money Today – or as often as possible
One of the biggest problems in the network marketing business, making money, substantial money, often seems elusive. You may be able to sell your product as is right away – if so, go for it. If not, consider selling a how-to guide on how to solve a problem then recommend your product as a possible solution, or use an audio. If you have a source of leads, sell them to other network marketers. I have known people who went to car dealerships and fire stations to sell their product in gift baskets for Valentine’s day or Mother’s day. 4. Create a flow of leads
This one is absolutely the most important piece of advice about network marketing in the long run. If you want to succeed, you need people to talk to. How do you create a flow? The main way MLM companies tell you is to make a list. They offer all kinds of memory joggers and so on. But that list won’t take you all the way, typically. That’s why so many people fail – they can’t find enough people interested in their product or opportunity.So, use advertising. Create leads by placing ads and putting yourself in front of more people who need your services. You can attend business mixers with the local chamber of commerce. 5. Budget Your Money
You got in this business to make money, right? Some of the best advice about network marketing I have found is NOT to spend yourself out of the business. You need to budget your money. For instance, be careful with what you commit to spend. Do you really need an 800# right now? Can you split it with a friend? Basically, you need to estimate how much money you have available, either in a lump sum or how much every month. Then, decide what it can do for you to build your business. Prioritize what to do with the money, where your business needs it most. And if you have very little or no money, don’t despair. You can still succeed, you just need to be more careful with what you have. And put in more of your own labor to make up for it. For my take on pay per click, look at my page on

6. This Is Real Business
Too many MLMer’s don’t get this. You sign up, you get a little briefcase or box with some papers. It doesn’t really look like you are in business, but you are. When you sign up, you become an independent salesperson for your company.You can advertise, you can sell products, you can lead your organization. Go to trade shows, join the local chamber of commerce, speak to community groups, and set up a table at the mall. But that’s only part of it. You can also create training programs, and write books. Mike Dillard, Ann Sieg, Mark Weiser, Randy Gage, Don Failla, John Milton Fogg and tons of others have set the example here. You really have no limit if you keep looking for ways to add value.
7. Eliminate Time Wasters
How many meetings do you have this week? What else have you committed to doing? Now answer this: what really earns money? What builds your business?Many leaders will say attend every event. I can’t agree with that. We all have other commitments, families, and need some down time. In a busy company, you could have 10 to 20 hours of meetings per week. I’ve seen it. You probably have, too. Attend what you can reasonably do. You don’t have to go the meeting in the next town, unless you have guests. If you aren’t full time, don’t plan on every Saturday morning meeting – go one or twice a month. I know you want to support your company and grow your business. Just don’t get burned out doing it. My advice about network marketing, keep it real and don't stress yourself out.
8. Promote Yourself
I mentioned some names above. Take a look at them. Put them in Google, or see what Amazon has of theirs. These people learned to promote themselves as well as their opportunity. By promoting themselves, they created a new opportunity as leaders, as people that can train others and offer more value. That's good advice about network marketing.You can do this, too. When you talk to someone about you network marketing business to sign them up in the opportunity, tell them you will give them a special plan. Or a book or training CD set. They get something extra by signing up with you, and you get to be more of a leader by offering this added value. Only by becoming more of a leader will you realize your goals, in or out of your MLM company. Advice about network marketing doesn’t usually cover this, but you need to know. No one will make you a leader but you, and no one will promote you outside your company but you.
9. Expand Your Horizons
When you start in network marketing, you will likely consider yourself part of your company. Get ready: you aren’t. That’s right. You are not your MLM. You can represent more companies. You can come up with your own products. You can sell in bundles your company doesn’t offer. You can hire an assistant, and I know people who have, part time and full time. You can also set up advertising cooperatives, where you contract for the ads, then sell pieces or shares to others in your company and downline. Since you took the time to manage it, you should cut yourself in for a share, as a management fee. Do you have a great website on your business? Do you have traffic? If you do, you can sell advertising on your site. Wouldn’t that be nice, to get a second income from your website? All of these activities happen outside of MLM. I remember when I discovered this principle. I realized that one reason so many people in network marketing fail stems from not knowing how to run a business. And just as important, most of us never run our businesses the way other successful businesses do. Expand your horizons. Look around at how great businesses work. What could you do to include successful principles in your business? Some of the best advice about network marketing you can get will come from other successful businesses and leaders.
10. Keep an Eye on the Future
This sounds like just what it is. Watch for good opportunities. Since you are not your company, you can take advantage of another great business when it comes along. One way to prepare for the future: become excellent at what you do. Prepare by becoming the best. Maybe you won’t be the best in the world, or in your country, but you can be the best in your community or city. Or you can be the best at a specific thing, like recruiting doctors or other professionals.Opportunities come to those who prepare and who improve. When a good one comes up, you will recognize it. And people you know, who know you have become great at what you do, will also bring them to you. Success breeds success.
One Last Thought
You may have even read this before, but it goes right along with my other advice about network marketing. Think about this. In major league baseball,- If you get 1 hit in 10 at bats, you aren’t a great batter
- If you get 2, you are average
- If you get 3, you are a superstar athlete
